Originally found in the Larvik Fjord Region of Norway, this igneous rock is found within the LPC (Larvik Plutonic Complex) in some part of the Oslo Rift. Its labradorite-like iridescence creates a ‘schiller effect’ from flashing colors (usually silver and blue) caused by its chemical compositions when hit by rays of light.

Larvikite is sometimes called ‘Black Moonstone’, ‘Black Labradorite’, or ‘Blue Pearl Granite’, by many people acquainted with gems and crystals. Because it comes from the Feldspar family, Larvikite is sometimes mistaken as a moonstone. However, it does not give off a pearly and opalescent glow (like that of a moonstone), rather, it flashes a combination of silver and blue sparkling schiller effect when hit with multiple lights.

Larvikite is also a powerful shaman stone, meaning it sees beyond what we perceive, and shows us the truth. Larvikite assists in our healing, and blocks the negative energies during our healing journey. It helps activate the Earth’s energies, and we can use that to our advantage.
